As a musician, I have taught two private students in Electric Bass, taught a master class for a high school level jazz combo, conducted a high school band for a piece I composed and arranged, and played gigs with talented musicians in the Dartmouth area. I was a hockey coach for beginners for 6 years where I honed my skills as an instructor that make me very adept at teaching. I know many practice techniques and exercises for all levels of musicians that are up to date and effective. I believe that musicians are all at different points on the same curve, and that every student learns in a unique way. I am versatile in my teaching methods and flexible with the pace of students. I love teaching students of all ages. It is very satisfying to see their eyes light up when they realize they got it. One method i use is to teach the the music that they love and apply the theory and technique to it, and gradually introduce them to more challenging works. I earned my BA from Northwestern University in 2007 with a major in Philosophy. I started at Northwestern as a violin performance major at the School of Music, moving into Philosophy and later taking on public health. I came to Boston to complete the Health Careers Program at Harvard Extension School.
