A Little Bit About Me...

For the past 4 years I have taught children (infant-5 years) developmental skills and early childhood education. I earned my CDA while I was the teachers aid for the VPK progam at Eau Gallie High School. I also worked at Pinecrest Academy where I taught 1-2 year olds developmental skills. Currently, I am working for a family, teaching their four children basic childhood education. I will have my AA this May and I plan to obtain my BA in Communications with a minor in Journalism. I have direct experience as a tutor in the University of Texas at Tyler Writing Center. While working there, I assisted students in all parts of the writing process from initial outlines to proper citation of sources. My more recent positions have all involved some element of training. These experiences ranged from lecture-style presentations to phone, email and face to face instruction.
I am familiar with most major learning styles but do not subscribe to one particular view. I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels that sense of pride; he will open himself up more to the idea of learning. Secondly, I will always do readings and visuals to stimulate both areas of the brain to ensure it is absorbed. I also believe in repetition of information once a student comprehends what has been learned. Lastly, I like to be consistent. I have always kept the learning styles very similar.
