A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. Drawing is one of my top subjects!

Several years of artistic experience, with portfolio to prove it. I have done paintings (murals, on canvas, on wood, linoleum, house painting, watercolor, acrylic, etc.), drawings (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal), digital painting and drawing, sculpture (aesthetic sculptures, furniture sculptures), and costume design (halloween, cosplay, stage costumes). I have done commissions for several clients. I have never tutored in art before, but I believe I am at a skill level in which I can easily show those how to get their creative juices flowing.

I have been told by my first year teaching mentor that my style of teaching is "unconventional". Although I majored in English, I had a concentration in creative writing and a minor in visual arts. I think of writing as an art, and so I use creative methods in the classroom to teach students. I believe our youth's attention span is getting shorter and shorter due to television/media and modern day technologies. As a teacher, it is imperative that you hold the child's interest. I graduated with my BS in CSD and am now going for my Master's. I have worked with children of all ages specifically in literacy, writing, and speech. I am comfortable teaching up to and including Algebra,any history, and elementary school science.
