A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. There are thousands of educators, but only a few real teachers who can get a message across in such a way that the student doesn't just do the work, they UNDERSTAND what they're doing and why. As far as I'm concerned, if a student doesn't learn something, it's not because he didn't try. It's because I failed to teach him i ... read more

Drawing is one of my top subjects!

Several years of artistic experience, with portfolio to prove it. I have done paintings (murals, on canvas, on wood, linoleum, house painting, watercolor, acrylic, etc.), drawings (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal), digital painting and drawing, sculpture (aesthetic sculptures, furniture sculptures), and costume design (halloween, cosplay, stage costumes). I have done commissions for several clients. I have never tutored in art before, but I believe I am at a skill level in which I can easily show those how to get their creative juices flowing.
Very up to the student. I will push you towards your goal, but since this is art, I will only critique your planning and how you compose your work. Will help with basics.

More About This Tutor...

I am patient and creative when it comes to teaching and visually showing my students different ways to apply what they learn.
I have been tutoring for many years both privately and for Title I schools. I have tutored k-12, as well as college students in most subjects. I love the arts, writing, and science. I have a passion for getting students interested in learning, getting creative, and learning art as early as possible. The same method applies to math and science, where I try to get students to see their subjects in different ways and apply the learning to what they love most or at least can relate to better.

Each child learns in different ways, and as a Tudor/teacher it is my responsibility to discover the method of teaching that matches a child’s way of learning. I am patient, understanding and provide a constructive approach to learning. All children have the potential of learning; some simply require a different method and approach to grasp the information and it is my duty to provide such approach.
I'm currently attending American Military University, with less than a year to graduate with a bachelor degree in Public Health, which allows me to have a better understanding in health science related subjects. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers. In addition I have experience in teaching, coaching and mentoring soldiers in the United States Army as a squad leader.

More About This Tutor...

I have been told by my first year teaching mentor that my style of teaching is "unconventional". Although I majored in English, I had a concentration in creative writing and a minor in visual arts. I think of writing as an art, and so I use creative methods in the classroom to teach students. I believe our youth's attention span is getting shorter and shorter due to television/media and modern day technologies. As a teacher, it is imperative that you hold the child's interest. I believe in incorporating these technologies into the classroom, and relating material in the easiest terms and to things they already know. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are "stupid" when you cannot understand what the teacher is saying or cannot relate to it. The best learning happens when students do not even realize they are learning. That is the foundation for my style of teaching. I love teach ... read more

I enjoy very much teaching anyone that is eager to learn. I am able to seek information an all resources necessary to provide your child with the best education possible. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn, in many different ways, depending on each individual skill. I also believe that education is the most important tool that anyone can have in their life and that educators are the main resource for making the difference in a child's or an adult's life and education.
During my 13 years of working experience at the Employment Office in Lowell, Massachusetts in conjunction with a year of working experience at CTI YouthBuild, also in Lowell, Massachusetts, I was able to provide extensive classroom training to public assistance customers and also to young adults in many different areas; to help enhance their skills in the work force field. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with my BS in CSD and am now going for my Master's. I have worked with children of all ages specifically in literacy, writing, and speech. I am comfortable teaching up to and including Algebra, any history, and elementary school science.
I don't just want to regurgitate information to a student; I want them to learn. I allow them to try to complete and assignment, and if they ask questions, I think of the child's learning style. How they learn affects how I explain it to them or how I show them. If they are having trouble understanding, i will model their question and answer it correctly. I will ten ask them the differences between the two. I am very patient, easygoing, and I give praise often.

Education should be relevant to students’ desired career, and frequently updated to trends in technology and business. The talent of the teachers should inspire interest in all students. The teacher should have superb communicative abilities. Participation and activity of students should be active and not passive, including interaction with the real world, class discussion and frequent assignments, and the encouraging of collaborative discussions outside of class.
I would be happy to document previous academic success with exceptionally high student evaluations regarding my enthusiasm, teaching ability, and motivational skills.

As an Early Childhood Educator I believe students should be nurtured and guided to rise to their full potential. I believe all children learn in their own way, and we must find methods that work best for each individual child. I love to use hands on lessons, roll play, and other interesting activities. Lessons should be challenging, interesting, encourage student involvement and improvement. I love to see the joy in a child when they succeed, especially in something they struggled with.

During high school, I took advanced placement courses in English and Calculus and through these courses I was exposed to a large variety of concepts at varying challenge levels. In AP Calculus, I was able to utilize the foundations of mathematics as well as numerous other concepts. In AP English, I learned everything from classic literature and poems to advanced grammar and writing skills. At the University of Central Florida, I continued to excel in my courses and pursued a major in the legal field when I realized my dreams of going to law school. In relation to the tutoring position, I have a year of experience in tutoring grammar school students in math and reading. As a graduate student at Mississppi State University, I was a teacher assistant for 2 years in Introduction to World Geography. These are the only two jobs I have had that are related to job that I am applying for.
Personally, I enjoy everything about education. I believe that if you can educate a person, then doors are opened for them. I am the type of tutor that gives basic instructions, then I allow the student to try a few things on their own. If they struggle, then I will step in and help them. I prefer to go over the same material as much as needed until the student is comfortable with the subject matter. Then, I like to move on to a new subject.

I encourage students to relate among themselves, learn from one another. I listen to students for their knowledge and power. I learn from them, as they from me. I delight in lecture methods, as I do in smaller group situations, in which students team-up in groups of 4-5 and work through projects as a team. They then present their findings as a team. It's proven a remarkably powerful for students to produce results. I delight in team-teaching as well, both with other teachers and administrators. I'm committed to 'selfless service' as teacher.
Since my days as a graduate student, I love to learn, as both student and teacher. As teacher, I've taught Humanities at the Junior College level, teaching Fine Arts, Music, English literature and Philosophy. I've taught students to make connections, relationships, between what they see and hear. Sight and Sound, then, allo ... read more
