My teaching style is very interactive & I develop an individual lesson plan for each student based on his/her needs.
I've taught Chess professionally for 12 years. While the best instruction is always one-on-one; I've taught Chess in afterschool club settings, park district group programs, & as a private tutor. More & more nowadays elementary schools are offering Chess as an after school program. I've taught 1,000's of kids Chess at 100's of elementary schools of all types. While my speciallty is beginning Chess players, I do enjoy teaching more advanced students as well.

I hold a BA in English from Saint Olaf College and studied a variety of subjects during my time in the Liberal Arts program. I have worked with many college graduates helping them prepare for the GRE in both the English and Math sections, as well as assisting high school students in preparing for their SATs and ACTs. I have also worked with younger students helping them learn beginner level French as I studied French, English and math through college. As a psychology major, at the beginning of my education, I discovered that I had a love and talent for mathematics. Thus I pursued a dual degree in Psychology and Math. I started tutoring algebra and calculus as soon as I learned the subjects, recieving straight A's all through community college. In the Psychology Department I ended up teaching my own statistics class, later teaching statistics as a community college instructor for the Los Angeles College District. For psychology, I have conducted many quantitative and qualitative research projects, developing a strong background as a quantitative analyst. I love to teach and conduct statistical research.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from university in the top 2% of my graduating class, then went on to earn a masters in Comparative Literature. The Pennsylvania State University awarded my a graduate teaching fellowship for the duration of my masters studies. This fellowship allowed me to teach two college level courses in world literature, English composition and rhetoric, and French. In 2005, I moved to Hawaii to take a full time job as a language arts instructor at a well known private school. I taught there for four years and headed the deparment during my last year. While teaching high school, I also tutored and taught community college writing courses.
