I've taught Chess professionally for 12 years. While the best instruction is always one-on-one; I've taught Chess in afterschool club settings, park district group programs, & as a private tutor. More & more nowadays elementary schools are offering Chess as an after school program. I've taught 1,000's of kids Chess at 100's of elementary schools of all types. While my speciallty is beginning Chess players, I do enjoy teaching more advanced students as well.
My teaching style is very interactive & I develop an individual lesson plan for each student based on his/her needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a BA in English from Saint Olaf College and studied a variety of subjects during my time in the Liberal Arts program. I have worked with many college graduates helping them prepare for the GRE in both the English and Math sections, as well as assisting high school students in preparing for their SATs and ACTs. I have also worked with younger students helping them learn beginner level French as I studied French, English and math through college. I am able to tutor math from beginners through geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus.
I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn. I understand that every student has different needs and learns things in different ways and at their own pace. As a psychology major, at the beginning of my education, I discovered that I had a love and talent for mathematics. Thus I pursued a dual degree in Psychology and Math. I started tutoring algebra and calculus as soon as I learned the subjects, recieving straight A's all through community college. In the Psychology Department I ended up teaching my own statistics class, later teaching statistics as a community college instructor for the Los Angeles College District.
