New college graduate with teaching experience

I have 1.5 years of volunteer experience in teaching adult literacy. In this experience I have taught the alphabet, study/homework skills, basic consonant and vowel sounds, rules to the English language, and reading and writing. Especially in the automotive and math sections. Worked in a variety of environments, where i learned housekeeping,cooking,and automotive skills.
I can teach in a variety of ways. mainly by using ways to relate to the students understandings. I dont like the costant drilling techniques many people use. Some people learn more by constantly studying, while others study just enough to get an understanding. thats me.

I am quite flexible. I think every person learns differently and no singular method should be applied to when it comes to tutoring; this is not an assembly line. I recently graduated from Ohio University with a BS in English Education in March of 2010. My last day of student teaching, I received an offer to teach at a Career and Technical school for a long-term Language Arts position for ten weeks. I taught six different eleventh and twelfth grade classes with two preps. During my student teaching I taught twelfth grade with four different preps, including traditional, accelerated, AP, and creative writing English classes.

I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think of whats going on in the tree, right down to the point of the tree taking in carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen and water. Why is the tree giving off water. most people do not know that the tree is making water because it is attaching hydrogen to the oxygen to get rid of the hydrogen, acid.
