My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style. I worked with students who wanted to learn conversational English. I used newspapers, magazines, BBC radio and books on tape to facilitate understanding of the language. I used specifically designed three dimensional objects to help the students understand language and form sentences; for example, a triangle was a verb, a square was a noun etc. this really helped the students understand sentence structure - they had to place the object on the picture they thought it would match until they had completed their sentence.
