My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student. Sometimes all it takes is it being explained one more time a different way.
As a graduate of the top chiropractic school in the world, I have achieved a high level of education. I have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Through out the years I have taught 5-8th graders in various subjects, as well as helped teach for a national board review company to chiropractic students all over the country in a variety of topics. I was also the editor-in-chief for the Palmer Triune, helping me obtain an excellent understanding and appreciation for the English language.

At Harvard University, for five years, I taught expository writing to first year students, focusing on critical thinking skills, the foundation of essay and argument. One of my classes was remedial. I'm a veteran award-winning journalist with nationally-known newspapers and a former Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard, currently completing a novel. I have twenty-five years experience teaching at the college level. My areas of expertise are Sociology, Criminology, and Legal Studies but my favorite part of teaching is working one-on-one with students on research and writing projects. In recognition of my expertise in this area, my university awarded me the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring in 2007. I have published and reviewed for academia journals and have experience writing and reviewing grant applications. Last year I left my tenured job to move to Wisconsin to be with my family and to develop an independent consulting business. But I really miss teaching! I would love to work with students who need a little extra help finding their voice.
