I have been selected as a peer tutor through Carlow University for Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.

I enjoy teaching children at all levels. I find that children learn at different speeds and by different means. My enthusiasm for the natural world began at an early age and as never left me. I enjoy sharing my experience and understanding of natural processes with others. My favorite area of biology is botany. I received an undergraduate degree in biology and a minor in botany. Additionally, I have two masters degrees, one in biology and one in teaching. Currently I teach general biology labs but I have taught freshman biology lecture as well.
