I am a recently retired teacher. I have taught at all levels preK through high school and with diverse populations, including overseas. My areas of specialty are Spanish and Art, and areas of strength include English, Reading, Social Studies and Geography. My knowledge of child development and behavior management is superb. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student. Sometimes all it takes is it being explained one more time a different way.
As a graduate of the top chiropractic school in the world, I have achieved a high level of education. I have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Through out the years I have taught 5-8th graders in various subjects, as well as helped teach for a national board review company to chiropractic students all over the country in a variety of topics. I was also the editor-in-chief for the Palmer Triune, helping me obtain an excellent understanding and appreciation for the English language.

A Little Bit About Me...

To be a teacher is to be a guide: A guide knows the landscape, has the right equipment, and can quickly adapt to a changing climate. I know academia and the kinds of assignments that professors give and the quality of work they expect. I also know the kinds of mistakes that students too often make. I have the right “equipment:” years of experience teaching students the ins-and-outs of crafting – and completing – research projects and a “pack” of useful tricks for breaking down seemingly intractable problems. My experience has taught me that an effective learning experience (the “climate”) is grounded in good communication and an ability to be flexible and creative. A Little Bit About Me...

At Harvard University, for five years, I taught expository writing to first year students, focusing on critical thinking skills, the foundation of essay and argument. One of my classes was remedial. I'm a veteran award-winning journalist with nationally-known newspapers and a former Nieman Fellow in Journalism at Harvard, currently completing a novel. I'm particularly adept at working with students with special needs and learning differences.
I ascertain the student's strengths and weaknesses and teach how to draw upon strengths to improve writing. I give detailed feedback throughout the writing process. I measure success by the student's increased confidence.

A Little Bit About Me...

I currently work with students in 3rd through 8th grade teaching music and spiritual gifts indentification classes. I have volunteered in classrooms of elementary age students during my college years. I worked with students one on one in these settings catching them up with the rest of their class on current projects.
