A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very simple and effective. I start with Technique. I believe that it is the best interest of a student’s success to learn about the instrument before learning how to play it. Then, I incorporate Basic Theory. It is also important for a student to understand why they are playing and how music flows together. My students then begin to learn the major fundamentals of the Bass; Groove, Feel, and how to be a leader. They will also learn how to write their own music, and if they desire how to read and notate. Music Theory is a big part of my curriculum. I feel it is the most important skill to understand what you are playing and why. I encourage the students at any time can bring in their own material to learn.

I have a BS in Business and have worked in Mortgage and Banking for many years. This industry requires excellent written communication skills as well as practical math skills. I have been a substitute teacher for grades K - 12 for the past year in all subjects and have C-Best Certification. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ages, on all skill levels and many with learning disabilities through 8th grade. I was a high school art teacher for two years and I worked in a college library for four years. I am able and willing to work with students of all ages.
