Hi, my name is Brittany G. I am a graduate of Southeastern University where I earned a B.S. in General Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Western Governor's University where I earned a Master's in teaching Science. I have been teaching for Sarasota County since 2007. I've taught a variety of different subjects for all grade levels from basic middle school math and science to Honor's Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra, Informal Geometry, Physical Science, and have recently been tutoring for college level algebra and trigonometry, probability and statistics, chemistry and biology. My comments on tutoring Psychology : Studied Psychology at Ashford University for three years, before leaving Ashford to pursue my own interests in Psychology and Writing skills.

Took three years of college courses on Psychology at Ashford University, trained with a Computer Troubleshooting Specialist for four years, have two books of my own written word poetry published. In my time at Ashford I picked plenty of shareable skills, study skills, time management, and using my keyboard to it's fullest potential to meet deadlines. While training with the Computer Troubleshooter, I learned more about how to use software and typing/keyboard shortcuts to utilize computers to their full potential. I also learned how to use properly install hardware and to build a desktop, and where to find reasonably priced keyboard components.

Even though I hold a business degree I have always had a love for working with children. As a college student I worked for two different families as a nanny, where I assisted a total of five children with their school work and projects among other things. After obtaining my BS in Finance from the University of Central Florida I went on to get married and work in a bank. It was shortly after that when I realized that my real passion was with children. I love teaching all ages, nearly all subjects. I understand that everyone has different styles of learning. When teaching to a group, ideally all styles would be touched on (auditory, visual, hands-on). When working one-on-one, though, it is possible to teach towards that individual's particular style of learning. This works so much better than a one-size-fits-all method of teaching. If one way of teaching isn't working, I search for a different approach, until I find one that works. I try to explain concepts using ideas and terms that the student is familiar with. This allows the student to relate new concepts to already familiar ones, which helps it 'stick' better. I love 'aha' or 'lightbulb' moments - it makes it all worthwhile!
