I received my BS in Psychology & my Masters in Special Education. Through grad school I worked at a school specializing in dyslexia and reading disorders. I learned many research based strategies & practices for practical use in the classroom. I began working with those with developmental disabilities and those with learning disorders of all kinds. Whenever I can, I like to be very hands-on in my teaching my students. For example, once I was teaching my class about trees. I had them go outside and collect samples of bark which had fallen on the ground. Then we created a gigantic mural in my classroom and glued the pieces of bark to a tree we had drawn.

My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I am a certified Special Education Teacher K-12 in Florida. I work with students who have dyslexia and related learning disabilities on a daily basis. I myself have dyslexia, but when I was in school, the McKay scholarship wasn't around. I am certified in the LindaMood Belle LiPS method. This method has shown, through research, to be one of the best methods for teaching student with dyslexia how to read. This is actually how I learned how to read.

I have been working as a teacher for three years now. I enjoy working in a private school setting (two years experience) because I can devote more time to lesson planning, after school, and creating individualized/small group curriculum as there are less students in the private school I teach at. I am the Reading Specialist and I love my job. I myself had to learn to cope with dyslexia and ADHD. I know what students are going through because I have experienced it first hand.
