Meeting the needs of all Learners!

My name is Amanda Ryan. I graduated in 2010 from Arcadia University with a Bachelors in Education. I am elementary k-6 and special ed k-12 certified. I have experience as a Learning Support Teacher and Emotional Support teacher in the School District of Philadelphia. I am currently a multiple disability teacher for grades 3-5. I work with children who are medically fragile, intellectually disabled and have severe orthopedic impairments. I absolutely love what I do and I live to teach. Through my experience working with children who are non-verbal, I have learned many practices and strategies in order to meet the needs of the most diverse learners. A Little Bit About Me...

While attending High School, I was involved with the Special Education students as an aide, in addition to running a classroom of 2 and 3 year olds at a child care facility. I am currently a student (Senior) at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. The degree that I am striving for is English and Special Education (P-5), which will also certify me for general education. Over the course of four years that I have been at Monmouth University, I have observed and taught in many elementary schools ranging from grades Pre-K to 8th. I tailor my teaching style for the students. For example, formal and delegation styles are both required when teaching children due to course content and resources. Precise verbal instructions are needed with children because of attention time and listening skills aren’t always mature. Lectures, assignments and expectations are spelled out in the formal and discussions are encouraged which includes examples and observations. The students will demonstrate their learning styles through responses to visuals, auditory and kinesthetic which will further add to my tailoring.
