My comments on tutoring English ESOL : Most experienced with Japanese EFL speakers

I have a very by-the-book kind of tutoring style, but my explanations are thorough enough for most people to understand in simple terms. For Japanese, I tutor through Japan Times' 'Genki' textbook set and the following intermediate Japanese textbook. For English for Japanese Speakers, I can retrofit my knowledge of Japanese grammar to explain important points in the English Language to help you sound more fluent.
I have studied and spoken Japanese for around 12 years, speaking at an intermediate level. I understand the intricate workings of the grammar and vocabulary and can thoroughly teach how to speak and understand from logically comprehending its inner mechanisms (I.E. thinking in Japanese) which will make speaking easier. It is my belief that language proficiency stems from extensive practice. Although I see my Japanese language skills as a useful tool in helping other Japanese speakers learn English, I feel that conversing in English and explaining concepts in English as much as possible leads to greater language advancement. Most Japanese adults already studied English in junior high and high school, so it is necessary to access their prior knowledge.
