A Little Bit About Me...

I started tutoring in 7th grade back in 1976. I have been tutoring my own kids for over 14 years. I have been a Scout leader for over 9 years. I worked with boys ages 5 to 18 years of age. I have brought 2 learning disabled teens into my home to help them graduate High School. Both have gone on to be Certified Welders. I have presided over the Parental Acceptance Committee for both Fremont and all five of WSOS HeadStart Counties and all the centers in the School Districts of those counties. I am working on my Associate in Electronics and Computer Technology. I am also working on 17 IT Certificates and 9 Windows Certificates. I have gained a tremendous amount of experience working with this student in and out of the classroom, and it has allowed me to develop my teaching skills in all areas of curricula. I tutor my student in each and every one of her subjects. I also informally tutor some of my peers at Ohio Wesleyan University, particularly in Science classes, in which I am most experienced.
I am a very interactive teacher. I find it helpful for the students I work with if I am able to relate a lesson to something else with which they are familiar. The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students learn best when they are involved in the process. Therefore I like to put students in charge of their learning-whether it is presenting information gathered for a presentation or helping to develop the topics that will be discussed in a particular unit; as long as they are involved and not passive in the process students will learn.
