I have a Master's Degree in Translation of French/Italian/Dutch. After that I got my Italian diploma to teach Italian language and culture. I also have a Belgium teacher's certificate. I've been teaching Italian to adults, which is quiet a challenge. But I also taught French to teenagers ( ages 12-17), which is even more of a challenge. I loved doing it! I am a native Spanish speaker and I grew up in Spain. I have been teaching Spanish at public schools in Michigan since 2000, from elementary levels to high school levels. I currently teach Spanish I to 8th graders. I have also been tutoring in Spanish and French for the past 10 years. I lived in Paris, and I am fluent in French. I have a variety of teaching styles, and have worked with special education students, as well as highly gifted ones. I use both oral and auditory teaching techniques, and have many internet resources to help students study and learn.

My tutoring experience started my sophmore year of college, as I was attending EMU. It started in the classroom, helping out classmates, etc. From that moment, people started to ask me for a help on a daily basis. That is when study groups were created, where I would either tutor a group of people or one individual at a time on weekends. I am still tutoring some middle and high schoolers in math and science. I also tutor now college students in Spanish and French. I can't really say I have a style since I believe in adapting to the student(s) in front of me. Everybody is unique, so I must use different techniques to convey the same message to different students. I am very patient, I try to have my student thinking with me on the journey to find the answer. I can't give the answer away otherwise that student may never learn.

While at Wayne State University, I studied Geography, Urban Studies and the Italian language. When I graduated, I held a BA in Geography with minors in Urban Studies and Italian. During my education at Wayne, as I gained a good knowledge of the Italian language, I started to tutor lower-level students. In the end, I tutored Italian for one and a half years. I am a very easy-going individual; I don't like to push too much but am encouraging. The way I think teaching Italian works best is to make associations with the English language. The two languages are so heavily intertwined, but not at face value. After learning Italian, my knowledge of English is much more profound. Tutoring is very rewarding to me and making a difference in someone's life is important.

To begin with, my teaching style focuses on educating the child based on his or her learning style and infusing curriculum into contexts that make sense to the learner. It is crucial for the instructor to be able to curtail instruction based on attentive listening and observation. In addition, I enjoy the excitement of the "aha" moments the learner has when the material "clicks." It is truly a reward to pass on knowledge in a meaningful way - as much to the learner as to the teacher.
