My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : Worked at 2 aquarium facilities (AZA accredited) will provide information on request.

I like to use working examples of principles. I also embrace the "why" behind the facts as a method of reinforcing knowledge gained.
Most of my training has been hands on experience. I consider this a bonus as it promotes practical application. I did attend Boston University in search of a biology degree and marine biology minor. Personal circumstances made completion unavailable. I have also received certification in varoius animal care related fields and also hold the status of First Responder for Marine Animal Strandings with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

My last semester at FSU I internship with 1st grade students. I assisted students with areas they were struggled in and encouraged them to push themselves. I tutored several students in reading and writing skills. I also helped prepared students for their weekly math tests. By the end of the semester I took over teaching the class. Some classes in my major required me to do projects with children. As a volunteer, I participated this past year at camp Woe-Be-Gone. This is a one day camp that works with about 120 children, helping them learn at the museum of science and industry while understanding and coping with the illness or loss of loved one. In high school I volunteered with Best Buddies, allowing me to work with handicapped children. I also participated in TOPS as an assistant coach for handicapped children. I have also tutored children of friends of the family.

After graduating from Florida State University, I received a job at DISC Village in Tallahassee Florida as a Prevention Counselor in the Beta program. This program was school-based and involved working with at-risk middle school students at Wakulla Middle School. My duties included instructing 12-26 students in 6th-8th grade in social skills, behavior improvement, drug prevention, and study groups/tutoring sessions. I developed individualized student plans according to each student's needs. Also, I did extensive work in one-to-one or small-group situations, assisting students with assignments, achieving learning outcomes, and meeting behavioral goals. I also coached football, soccer, and baseball for 4 years at Wakulla Middle School.
I enjoy working with students in all settings, including small groups and one-to-one. My personal specialty was in one-to-one math and science t ... read more

I greatly enjoy working with my patients and teaching them about their diagnosis. Watching them learn and listening to their challenging questions inspires me to continue my own education as an adult. I strongly believe that each child has his/her own learning style and it is your job as a teacher/tutor to tap into that style to reach that student. I focus on children's abilities and what they can accomplish with a little encouragement or guidance. My goal is to teach the student while challenging and stimulating their mind.
I have earned a BS in Human Development and spent time in college volunteering 4 semesters at the Children's Hospital in Austin and at Sims Elementary. At Sims Elementary I worked on reading and writing with first and second graders who are bilingual. I currently work at Children's Medical Center Dallas where I serve as a child life specialist. I have been teaching for the last 8 years. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree from Greensboro College in North Carolina. I am Florida certified in Exceptional Student Education and Middle Grades Integrated curriculum. I am currently teaching Science, Math, Life Skills and Social Personal Skills. I have a great deal of teaching children who have difficulties grasping subject matter. I utilize proven research based protocols to ensure that my students are getting a quality education.
I am a firm believer in that every child can succeed in whatever they strive for if they are given proper instruction. Even difficult learners can succeed if the proper teaching methods are employed. Different students have different stimuli that they respond to. There is no one cookie cutter mold for teaching. After all, each student is an individual and responds in their own way.
