I am currently between my junior and senior year at Coastal Carolina University where I have a 3.998 GPA. I have received many honors and awards for my academic achievement such as induction to the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. I have always received excellent grades in math and science, but also in the humanities. My mother is a middle school teacher who has taught at all levels of education. I completed my bachelors of science in biology from Mesa State College, after which I went on to receive my masters degree in evolutionary biology from The University of Texas at Arlington. I then pursued a Ph.D from Brigham Young University. Although I completed all my coursework and my comprehensive exams and was approximately 80% done with my dissertation, I opted to leave the program to pursue my passion of teaching. I have been teaching general biology and anatomy and physiology, as well as zoology labs, at both UVSC and SLCC ever since. I love teaching and biology is my best subject. I have been a classroom teacher for the last 18 years. I have taught in both Public Junior High and High Schools, as well as Private School. I love teaching science, and love to make the class exciting. It really gets students going when you use current events to teach and when kids debate issues, it is a great learning opportunity!
