ACT is one of my top subjects! I work with many high school juniors - including athletes - that often score a composite of 30 or above the very first time they take the ACT after completing ACT prep with me. I prepare students for all four sections of the new, STEM-focused ACT. Several of my students have earned full ride scholarships to their chosen college based on their ACT scores. I have been designing and teaching ACT prep courses since 1997. I tutor in person and online using the Wyzant platform.

I am a tutor and test prep coach. I am KY and TN state certified in middle school math. I prepare students for the ACT and Praxis core and content exams, including the Praxis core (math, reading, and writing), Praxis 5018 (elementary education content knowledge), Praxis 5169 (middle school math), and Praxis 5001 (elementary education multiple subjects). A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching is one that strives to bring an overall understanding of the importance and relevance of the subject at hand. I believe children, as well as all people, learn much better and have much greater retention when they understand the bigger picture involved and understand why it is important to learn the subject at hand. I believe in relating the topics to something the pupil can understand and therefore grasp. One of my greatest teachers was a chemistry professor who was able to explain a complicated chemistry concept in terms of a McDonald's Happy Meal. It was something we all could relate to and understand. Furthermore, if I can relate why learning the particular topic is important, then I believe the child will become excited and be much more apt to retain and retell the information to others.
