My teaching syle is on a personal one-on-one basis with instruction both thru lecture, hands on and multi-media applications. I believe students only learn thru a multi-level program. Lecture and memorization is not enough. Further, "teaching to the test" accomplishes nothing. Students must learn the content not just the basics. I have 25 years experience in accounting. Since January 2008, I have had the opportunity of tutoring at risk 9th, 10th, and 11th graders at Leeds High School's AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination). I attempt to teach them critical thinking skills, reading skills, as well as studying skills. I have worked with the AVID program while I completed my Masters Program. I love working with adolescents. I believe with all of my heart that each teen has the ability to accomplish great things with the proper motivation.
