While I have not had any students with Dyslexia, I have recently read The Gift of Dyslexia and feel I have an understanding of what students experience. I am willing to work on strategies to help the student at home and in school. I have taught K for 13 years. I understand the value of one on one time, and that students are all different. Recently I spent 10 months teaching missionary children in Uganda. There I taught 4th, 5th, and 7th graders. Students in my class have had vision issues, autism, aspergers, and ADD/ADHD. With each situation, I have evaluated where the student was and revamped how I was teaching to meet their needs. I like to see where the student is and meet him there.
