Teaching has been my career ever since I entered a primary classroom at age 16 and finished teaching graduate and undergraduate students. I was trained as a teacher at The Leewards Teachers' Training College (in Antigua), an affiliate of University of the West Indies (Jamaica). As a Primary and Secondary School teacher, I taught English Grammar, Mathematics, and the Social Sciences. Although I have strong mathematical skills, I present myself here primarily as an English teacher, because of my expert facility with the grammar, usage, and vocabulary of the language. Sign Language! Special Needs! Literacy!

I have been a classroom teacher and a tutor for children, teens and adults who are deaf, hearing impaired, speech/language impaired, social/emotional impaired, cognitive delay, autistic, ADHD, etc. I have also taught early childhood children from birth. Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.

I don't use a lesson plan or guided lessons, I let the kids lead. They usually know what they need help on and if they can figure out what they are having problems with, then everything usually starts making sense. I usually keep my laptop with me, I refer to it if there is something I can't answer or figure out how to start drawing. I don't rely on it, but usually use it as a reference tool.
I've never actually tutored someone, but I am very good at relating with younger kids and High Schoolers. I was in band from 8th grade to 12th grade where I participated in the Front Ensemble section with keyboards, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones and various other instruments. Repetitious in manner.
My experience has been primarily with children within my school or those around my neighborhood. I find that children are more capable of learning in a stable environment that they are familiar with. Children respond well with well timed incentives and subtle reprimands of lost focus. Students are more likely to acknowledge a lack of concentration skills once their intelligence is put into question. Under my tutoring students are able to concentrate more and see an improvement in their grades. Ill behaved children are more likely to round out their behavior once an appropriate hobby is acquired for them and holds their interests. All materials should be produced based on the individual child's rights.
