I have been teaching in various forms for over ten years. I was a teaching assistant for four semesters in graduate school. I mentored and tutored people during my time as a Naval officer. I worked for Kaplan Inc for about a year, teaching almost all of their tests, including SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT. I taught mathematics and statistics at Parkland College for three years. Every student is different. They all have different experiences and learning styles. Sometimes teachers can just try to explain concepts and ideas the way that they understand things. I like to first ask students questions to help me understand where they are, what they specifically do and do not understand. This helps me to figure out how to help the student.
