My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : All I will need to know is what you are needing help with and I can provide it for you. Given that math can be seen as dry subject, I look for ways to help the individual be engaged in working out problems and understanding math's applications in everyday life. My approach is one that is peculiar to each of my students. As an auto-didactic learner, I believe that everyone has their own way of learning. Therefore, I use an approach that I feel works well for each of my students, with regard to whether a student thinks abstractly or concretely, for example. With so many possible goals, it is important to be flexible to work with each student's learning style. I present concepts with the idea that experience is the key to learning. I strive to create a warm atmosphere that allows students to feel comfortable with making mistakes, with making progress and with being themselves. I earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Plymouth State in New Hampshire in 1975. I have 16 years teaching experience at the elementary level teaching 5 years of 2nd grade, 8 years of 4th grade, 1 year of 5th grade, 1 year of 1st grade, and 1 year of 5/6 Language Arts and Science Resource teacher experience. I also taught 1 year at the Junior High level teaching 8th grade Pre-Algebra.
I love teaching because of the difference it makes in a child's life. I am easy to get along with and have a great sense of humor. I will apply all learning styles possible in given circumstances to ensure success and the sense of accomplishment. I am very dedicated to other interests and activities in students lives. I was majoring in International Economics and Trading in the college and completed my MBA program this year. After 6 year education, I am able to understand in many areas of Math, Economics and Statistics.
