I tend to be really flexible and try to adapt my teaching style to the learning style of the student. For students who tend to be more tactile, I might have them handle apples if a math problem references apples. If a student is working on a writing assignment, I will offer suggestions (such as marking spelling/grammar/punction mistakes) and help them learn how to correct the errors so they won't continue to make the same errors in the future.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : All I will need to know is what you are needing help with and I can provide it for you. Given that math can be seen as dry subject, I look for ways to help the individual be engaged in working out problems and understanding math's applications in everyday life. Elementary Math is one of my top subjects! I hold a Masters in Mathematics and a Bachelors in Molecular Biology. My teaching certification is EC-6 and just added ESL certified.

I am a certified teacher and have been teaching for 8 years in elementary school. I began my teaching career by accident leaving the law enforcement field to work initially part-time as a teacher. However I really enjoyed working with children and found that I was good at it. Over the years it has been nice to hear both parents, teachers, and children comment that I have made a difference in their lives and that I have helped make them the young people that they are shaping to be. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I have worked for Laredo Independent School District as Math and Science Interventionist in an elementary setting.

I have worked in a wide variety of socioeconomic school settings, which makes me quite versatile when it comes to my approach to teaching. I start from the ground-up, first forming a cognitive scaffold for a subject by teaching the very basics. From there we branch off into more and more complex tasks.
