Throughout my career I have concentrated on working with diverse learners, adapting curriculum to meet learners needs, using presentation styles that incorporate students' multiple intelligences.
I have 12 years tutoring experience at the college level. My teaching style varies with the learning style of the student I am working with at any given time. I believe in positive reinforcement with facilitative rather than demeaning corrections. My basic philosophy for all students is to meet their wagon where it is at, hitch my horse to it and carry the students as far as they can go with their abilities and aptitudes. I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of the time I do a lot of question/conversation responses to allow them to find the answer for themselves. I like a problem based learning style, even for the youngest of children. I not only want to teach them how to properly concur their learning material but how to find the information they need if they do not know the answer. A Little Bit About Me...

As a microbiology student, I have taken rigorous courses in the sciences as well as math.
