A Little Bit About Me...

I started preparing to teach when I came to the United States right after high school from a country with a language other than English by learning English; I then had the opportunity to attend college for a short while and then teach my own children -they were home-taught up to tenth grade. I worked as a teacher assistant for about six months and as a substitute teacher for about ten years. I work as a math remediation teacher for Maplewood Elementary and I worked as a tutor from September 2009 to June 2010 for children in the subjects of math and reading.
I have always had a passion for teaching/helping children discover the pleasure of learning. I enjoy very much working with different cultures/languages -it is a learning experience for me. My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics.
