Learning starts with a desire, followed by perseverance

I like to tailor my teaching to the students, as evidenced above. With the orphans, I focused on games to engage them, as they had classes all day before and were in their home. With the women, I focused on grammar and vocabulary building, emphasizing on communication skills. Our reading comprehension class is discussion based. A Little Bit About Me...

I have the natural ability to relate to kids of all ages. I was a waterpolo coach for five years, and a volunteer mentor for the Blue Ox School in Eureka. I tend to be straight forward and open with the kids about why the authors wrote the books, what they wanted their readers to get out of them, and how these authors weaved lessons into a classic storyline. Your children will immediately feel more connected to these books and short stories, and their reading comprehension will increase five fold.
As a Humboldt State University Student I was buried in English for Eight hours a day, five full years. Education has always been my passion. While earning my Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I was approached by a professor and asked to work as a teaching assistant with her graduate (M.A. and Ph.D. level) students. I was concurrently hired as a tutor and supplemental instructor for math, economics, and business courses. While working towards my M.B.A at Humboldt State, I taught numerous courses in the business discipline. I'm now an associate faculty member at College of the Redwoods teaching business technology courses.
