I worked at the Tutoring Club in Folsom, CA for 1 year. I tutored a variety of age groups, mostly high school age, in mathematics up through calculus, chemistry, biology and physics. I also worked at the learning center through Humboldt State University for about a year. Other than that, I have had multiple students for private tutoring sessions since 2005. So I have about 4 years experience in tutoring overall. I obtained 5 associates degrees from American River College in May 2007. They include AS in mathematics, math/science and general science with AA in liberal arts and general education transfer. The majority of my experience was obtained directly from my courses of study during my collegiate career. While taking all of my Physics courses math was a very important skill to have and be able to apply in a physical sense. Communication is a skill which I obtained while working alone or in a team for research purposes. I have a little over a year of experience as a lab assistant teaching astronomy on a college level. The key to teaching any age of student is the ability of the teacher or tutor to recognize the students level of need and their adherence to a study regiment. My style is relaxed. Many students appear frightened of math at first. I cover each subject well, allowing students to ask many questions. I encourage students to work problems while I watch, so I can catch them at the moment they make a mistake. I love teaching students of all ages, in basic math, algebra, statistics, and calculus.
