I try to target problem areas that students are having. I encourage them to ask questions and stop me when I am explaining something in order for them to understand it better. It really puts a smile on my face when I can see their frustration melt away. There is no set style that I teach it just depends on where the students strengths and weaknesses lie. My math teaching experience has been primarily with students who didn't "get it" when they first took classes at a particular level of mathematics. My focus has been to take the material and translate it from the often-impenetrable form found in textbooks to a more accessible, practical presentation. I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn. I understand that every student has different needs and learns things in different ways and at their own pace. I am kind, patient, and understanding. I believe students learn through discovering the right ways to do things and the reasons, not just regurgitating what an instructor tells them.
