Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. Teaching the way that my students learn best.

I believe in using real life situations, scenarios, and actively using technology. I like to use life lessons to enable my kids to realize that I am humble person, and I truly want the best for them academically as well as student. I incorporate peer discussions, peer tutoring, exit slips out the door, and class discussions to actively engage my students through the content and the process of learning. In doing so, my plan is to get my students to open up about what they know about the content and share it with their classmates. As a result, my students are more engaged in demonstrating content and standards understanding because I allow my students to demonstrate their learning through the way in which they learn best.

My comments on tutoring Literature : Literature analysis is something I do recreationally; I am an avid reader.

I have personally excelled in English/Language Arts for the entirety of my schooling career. I love to read and write, and as an English major have had a significant amount of experience analyzing literature and writing essays of various types. I have done some small-time tutoring for younger family members and friends in the past and am looking to expand my clientele.

An Exceptional Teacher for Exceptional Students!

I am a former Special Education teacher from Bibb County. I taught in a interrelated classroom in both the elementary school level, and the middle school level. I taught reading, math, science, and social studies. I was a cooperative teacher, in which I worked with the general education teacher to assist her in helping our students with special needs. In the interrelated classroom, I worked with students who were not able to be mainstreamed in the general education classroom all day. In the interrelated classroom, not only did the students learn the academic standards on their level, but they were also taught social skills, and life skills.
My teaching style is one of engaging, fun style. I believe that students should love to learn. Students should be allowed to academically express themselves to the teacher. This helps to facilitate learning. Appropriate questioning of the ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in one-on-one teaching and hands on. These to me are the best way to get through to some children. Online tutorals are a new way to reach kids and adults alike, since everything now is media based. I feel this is an effective way to reach students. I will give my best to demonstrate this way of teaching. Hands on and visually seeing also helps to accelerate the learning experience.
I have been working with children of and on all my life. My credentials are personal as well as professional. From a personal perspective, I have a child with autism for which I have spent many hours tutoring in the afternoons. I also have another daughter, who has struggled in school. I believe that students learn in a variety of ways and demonstrate their understand in many ways as well. Therefore, I strive to help students learn what type of learner they are by identifying their strengths and weaknesses and utilizing those in teaching. I also use Bloom's Taxonomy to take learners from learning knowledge to critical thinking. My strength in teaching is my ability to make a connection of the student and being approachable. This had allowed me to be an exciting part of a child's education and ultimately their future as an adult and contributor to society.

I have always had a passion for educating children. In the process, I have been able to observe different teachers and their methods. So I was able to form my own tutoring style and method that has worked pretty well for me and my students. I have always encouraged my students to learn by letting them have a more hands on approach and also more interactive. I firmly believe, that even with adults and more in children, in order to hold their attention, they must be interested and involved. So I strive to make my lesson plans captivating and interactive. I believe children can learn easier if they enjoy doing it.
I started tutoring in different after-school programs in New York City while in high school. I enjoyed it so much that even while in college, I continued tutoring and being a group counselor. I even had the opportunity to work with a one-on-one tutoring agency in which I tra ... read more

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more

All throughout my school years, I was a highly motivated student. I was in the accelerated programs from first grade to my senior year in high school. During high school I was not only in the accelerated english program, I also took many Advanced Placement classes and was on the accelerated math track. I was even able to finish my bachelor degree in International Affairs in three years. During my senior year in high school, I tutored my student in all of his subjects (math, social studies, science, and english). When in college, I led study groups in college and tutored a few of my fellow classmates, mainly in history and english.
I have always had an avid love of learning. I attempt to make my students love it too. I try to incorporate things the students like into the lessons (for example, I used football scoring to explain mathematic concepts to a 10 year old boy). I also am a f ... read more
