I am currently in my final semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the Secondary English Education program. I am a full-time student teacher at Milwaukee High School of the Arts in the Milwaukee Public School system; I teach English 9 and British Authors (10th grade English). I was a part-time student teacher last fall at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, and taught 7th grade English. A Little Bit About Me...

As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it. While working as an MTEC intern, I was trained in Direct Instruction and Power Writing. I later conducted several workshops for Carson Academy’s staff members as well. I also coordinated the Monthly Writing Challenges for the middle school department. I am a member of UW Milwaukee’s - Milwaukee Area Academic Alliance in English. In 2005, I co-planned The Teaching Writing Across Disciplines Showcase. I then invited several of Carson Academy’s students to participate in the program.
