A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently in my final semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the Secondary English Education program. I am a full-time student teacher at Milwaukee High School of the Arts in the Milwaukee Public School system; I teach English 9 and British Authors (10th grade English). I was a part-time student teacher last fall at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, and taught 7th grade English. I was a tutor and mentor for UWM's GEAR UP program and worked with high schoolers in all subjects, especially math and English. I play piano, read, write, and blog daily, and love to teach and learn. I myself am a visual and hands-on learner and because of this would most likely try to incorporate this in my teaching style.

My pedagogy is summed up in a basic belief that everyone is capable of learning. As a teacher, I believed strongly in cooperative learning where peers are taught to teach each other. I enjoy one on one teaching where I can focus on a students' needs much easier. I graduated from UW Oshkosh with a BS degree in Elementary Education and English. I have been a teacher for 18 years. I have taught all subjects to PreK, second and third grades.
