I spent the 2011 and 2012 school year as a math and science substitute teacher in Pinellas County. I received my certification by the FDOE in math and physics. As my resume’ indicates, my career grew in applied engineering and science. My staff management work was promoting engineered products used to increase manufacturing productivity. This included complex proposals to many different industries in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Tampa. I am currently enrolled in Desoto High School in arcadia florida. I love math and still have time for my CNA training. I am a senior this year. I am currently in a class where i tutor ninth and tenth graders in any subject but i prefer math. Call me a math wizard if you would. I hope to become a part time math tutor someday and a certified nursing assistant and more through life. I can be strict but I do show empathy and try to put myself in other's situation. I don't judge I believe every child learns in thier own way but with time and patience it can be done. I do push sometimes to see results but in the end the happy ending is worth it. I guarentee to show them a few strategies that are unique and will stick to them forever. I do require parents to cooperate when possible. thank you

I am currently a Middle School Math teacher in Mantee County. I received my teacher's certification through State College of Florida's teaching certification program. I became a teacher after years of successful empoyment in the business world, tutoring and mentoring while working. Now, I am doing what I wanted to do when I "grew up"...Teach. I am aware that most people, parents and students alike, do no like Math and find it difficult. I use age appropriate interests to integrate into my lessons so the students are talking about subjects that they like and are aware of.

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages. It doesn't matter what they don't know because I believe anyone can be taught anything, at least as long as you have the right teacher and materials at your disposal. I believe students are like little sponges. They're taking in everything around them. Obviously, if you fill their heads with garbage, they will learn garbage. However, if you fill their heads with quality information, you explain it in a way that they understand, and you make it fun for them to learn, then they will learn everything you're trying to teach. There are thousands of educators, but only a few real teachers who can get a message across in such a way that the student doesn't just do the work, they UNDERSTAND what they're doing and why. As far as I'm concerned, if a student doesn't learn something, it's not because he didn't try. It's because I failed to teach him i

Equations, graphing, arithmetic and geometric progressions, absolutes and inequalities Eight years of tutoring math subjects for middle school and high school students. I have a keen interest in math and have always enjoyed helping students grasp the essence of a problem and its mathematical solution. I worked for many years in the corporate world, designing and programming mid-range and large scale computers. I try to present each subject area as a sample problem and show EXACTLY how a solution is reached. Then I invite the student's participation with a view toward understanding the student's thinking. While accuracy in math is vital, understanding the steps involved is crucial.

Hi, my name is Brittany G. I am a graduate of Southeastern University where I earned a B.S. in General Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Western Governor's University where I earned a Master's in teaching Science. I have been teaching for Sarasota County since 2007. I've taught a variety of different subjects for all grade levels from basic middle school math and science to Honor's Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra, Informal Geometry, Physical Science, and have recently been tutoring for college level algebra and trigonometry, probability and statistics, chemistry and biology. It is my belief in order to effectively teach a variety of students the information needs to be presented and taught in a variety of ways. It is my goal as a teacher and tutor to discover how you learn best and help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

I have 13 years experience as a high school math teacher. My specialty is helping struggling students. I enjoy working with students who find Algebra confusing . . . I can help make the concepts easy to understand. I have 13 years experience as a high school math teacher in the Pinellas and Manatee school districts. My specialty is preparing students for the Algebra 1 end of course test and the PERT college readiness test. The majority of my experience has been working with struggling math students and helping them find confidence in their own abilities.

I got my math Diploma when I was 16. I was tutoring math during high school to my classmates and my friends. I am in college right now but I still teach math to my sister who is in 9th grade, and my mom who is in college right now. I have experience of teaching math but I never really get paid for that and I was not like a real employee.

My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem sets. There is so much interesting literature, philosophy, and history in the fields of science and physics that it makes very little sense to muddle with these less helpful and dull techniques and problems. Physics and math education has become so perforated with cliche that shows like Cosmos and the elegant universe can become hits by just regurgitating the same buzz-theories (Schrodinger's cat, Black holes, the multiverse etc.) in the same, cloddish language (space-time is 'warped' and twisted, quantum 'weirdness', etc). This lack of original language and analogy is not a semantical issue; it's suggestive of the philistine cleaving of the sciences from the arts and it's very disturbing -- these truly awesome
