German is one of my top subjects! I began learning German as a child, learned throughout intermediate, high school, and college. Having hosted a German foreign exchange student in high school really boosted my conversational proficiency as well as improved my accent. Having visited Germany 3 times also has helped to boost my fluency.

I have been fluent in conversational German for 27 years, having first learned as a child, continuing my learning formally through all measures of schooling having studied the language for 9 years in all. While I was in still in high school I began helping other students with their German assignments, translations, dialects pronounciations, and grammar. I tutored throughout college as well. Since that time I've been involved in educating the Pennsylvania Dutch (really Pennsylvania German) as to words in Standard German that they have lost over time in order to facilitate a cultural farming exchange of information and ideas. After growing up with both parents in the teaching profession I received my undergraduate degree in business from the University of Delaware. After working in the field of business, I realized the business world was not for me. I felt my calling was in education, just like my parents. That is when I decided to attend Drexel University to pursue my masters in education.

My tutoring career began as an honors research student in college. I shared my skills and passion for French and history in plain and easy to grasp concepts that even helped "non-language" types to succeed. Furthering my foundation in teaching methods I pursued my Master's degree in teaching a second language while serving as a graduate. I accepted a fellowship to teach middle school and high school on the French speaking island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean for one year where I taught English conversation and American Culture. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I attended and graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. I moved to Germany in 1995, spending time learning German and teaching part-time at the International School of Hamburg. In 1998, I started a one-year, full-time contract, teaching a pre-kindergarten class. After that, I returned to New Jersey, where I worked for 3 years before being offered a permanent position at the International School again in 2002, which I accepted. After holding this position for 8 years, I have now returned home to New Jersey permanently.
