I have been studying sign language for 9 years. I am now working as a sign language interpreter with an EIPA certification. I took sign language all throughout high school and was the president of the ASL club my senior year. I continued my education in sign language in college and was president of the ASL club senior year there as well. Sign language is a passion of mine and I would love to help teach others.

I like to teach by example and immersion. So much of what schools preach today is rote memorization, and to a certain degree, this cannot be avoided. But whenever possible, I like to try and find real world applications and demonstrations to get my lessons across to my pupil. Throughout high school and college, I've always excelled in my school work. I was president of the math club and often tutored my peers during my spare time. The University of Florida has provided me with a well rounded education, and I feel myself knowledgable in many areas, from languages like french, spanish and hindi, to the sciences like chemistry, biology, and physics. I'm also very familiar with writing term papers.

I enjoy teaching students in all areas of study, mainly math and reading. I believe in positive reinforcement and specific praise. Also, I believe in teaching to mastery and showing students with hard work they can achieve any goal and mastery any academic skill. As a youth I grew up in the inner city and dreamed of a career as a educator to help those students who didn’t have the support at home to be successful.
