I have been a substitute teacher for about 10 years specializing in math & physics. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering plus 20+ years of maintenance/engineering experience. I incorporate practical examples in teaching to give students in depth knowledge in a practical sense. I gather my examples from my varied career experiences from the Military, Aircraft, Engineering, Manufacturing/Maintenance & Computer fields. I sporadically tutors students in my specialty. I use the Active Participation strategy because it engages the learner not only in understanding but in contributing as well. This active learning process combined with introduction of practical uses/examples of the the subject matter provides a deeper meaning. But most of all the Objective,Purpose,and what their interests are, must be known so that these can be incorporated in the learning process.

I am a graduate student at UC Berkeley working towards my Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since I am interest in teaching , I established my career as follow: 03/2007- 05/2007 Tutor, San Jose Public Library, Seven trees Branch, San Jose, CA 1/2009-1/2010 Private Tutor - Tutoring Math to a high school student. Since I am an engineer, I teach Math orienting towards its application. In such way, I motivate people by stating application behind any math . I believe examples and theories are necessary for students to understand the material; moreover, challening tests are also necessary for them more exciting about Math and to know the world is not that easy. In short, I will motivate the material by saying the applications, explain the materials, work on the examples, and, then, test the student to know how my teaching is effected to my students

As a graduate from a top-10 university and from graduate school, I know what it takes to get into a top program and succeed at a high level. In the past 5 year, I have been working as a consultant in the environmental industry, but want to take some time off now to explore other interest. I have previously tutored underprivileged teenage girls at the Florence Crittenton Center in Los Angeles for about one-year as a volunteer back in 2001. I found that experience enjoyable but never pursued it much further due to the demands of school at the time.
