Recently moved from Ohio to Tennessee. For the past ten years I have taught mild to intense special needs students in a public school in grades 5-9. Three years prior to that I taught children with Severe learning disabilities in grades 4-6. Before that I taught children with severe emotional/behavioral disorders for eight years in grades K-3. I like to listen to students and teaching style is by hands on experience for students. Showing and explaining how they can achieve the skill at hand is successful. Often by teaching computer skills or program to help with the subject at hand.
I have worked with children in a pre-school or subing element for years, as well as an office. I am 2 classes away from my Assoc of E.Edu at the University of Phoenix. I plan to continue with my B.S. I teach on a pyramid style. It is necessary for a child to have a very well defined broad base of early skills to build upon. Any child having difficulty in 3rd grade on in reading or math must remediate the early skills to make progress towards the skills needed to advance to the next grade.
