I studied Arabic in college. One of my employees was from Jordan. He was trying to learn English. I would help him with his English. English is not an easy language to learn from a book. You have to be immersed in conversation to learn its many rules (and broken rules). This can only be done with someone who is native English speaking and knows enough of your language to communicate this to you. Having learned Arabic I know how Arabic is spoken and how to teach you how to think about speaking English. This is a very important step to progress that is left out of so many training programs. I am a senior at the University of Tennessee and am majoring in Architecture. Coming from a background of advanced English classes at Oak Ridge High school, writing and composition is my strong suit. I have tutored an architecture student who was taking a writing intensive essay course on "Theory of Architecture" and helped her sharply improve her weekly grades on papers. Also, during my freshman year in college, my summer reading essay was chosen as one of the top out of thousands of incoming freshmen.
