I have yet to professionally tutor anyone, but I have a lot of experience aiding others with homework and questions. I have always received high grades in all of my courses, with over a 4.0 G.P.A. in high school, so I am very knowledgeable and would be able to assist in many subjects. My comments on tutoring Spelling : I just finished my first year at CWI and am currently taking English 102 - took predominately English, editing, computer, marketing, and math classes. I also home schooled my children for ten years, was a teacher's assistant for six years in elementary schools, and taught first grade in a small private school last year.

Don't tell me 2+2=4. Tell me WHY 2+2=4.

Although I wish I could count the endless amount of time I spent playing teacher as a child, I know parents are looking for more expierence than an eight year old and her dolls. I have tutored children, ages ranging from eight to fourteen, off and on for three years. When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. Having taught small and large classes, as well as one-on-one, I am a firm believer in the benefit that one-on-one and small group instruction can offer for students. As a teacher, I love being able to identify and capitalize on students' interests and strengths.
