Don't tell me 2+2=4. Tell me WHY 2+2=4.

Although I wish I could count the endless amount of time I spent playing teacher as a child, I know parents are looking for more expierence than an eight year old and her dolls. I have tutored children, ages ranging from eight to fourteen, off and on for three years. I have expierence and am personally more comfortable helping with English and math centered tutoring for any grade level but am able to help with other elementary level classes.I've had the privilege to help with the passionate and the difficult and have been able to produce satisfactory results for all parties involved.

I love working with children and helping them understand that they are in charge of their learning. I think that exposing them to real world applications, as well as the fun side of what they need to know encourages them to continue learning long after they no longer "have to". Understanding that all children learn differently, I try many different ways of approaching a subject, until we find something that makes sense.
I worked with Upward Bound students while I was at Idaho State University for two summers. Upward Bound was a program designed for high school students who needed extra classes in order to graduate. I had a hunger to learn, so I systematically worked full-time and studied part-time, earning eight major degrees in cities where they alowed residency rquirements to be met in such a way. I was young and energetic, so it was a lot of work, but a joy. It took about 15 years to finally earn my doctorate.
