I have worked for two years for Sylvan Learning Center, working in an array of fields, including all areas of mathematics, English, SAT prep, and study skills. I have also worked for Islip Tutoring Services for a year, working with No Child Left Behind to help underprivileged students get extra help in the areas of math, English, and science. I enjoy seeing children discover the world around them in their own ways. Therefore, I teach the importance of working things out until you understand it for yourself. Children will meet and often surpass any goal that is given to them if you show that you believe in them. I use a hands-on approach, as much as possible, with a problem-solving emphasis. I firmly believe that a child remembers things more if he is able to work it out for himself. As a result, I take more of a mentoring position the older the child is.
