Experience Summary
I hold a BA and MA, both of which are in the field of Biblical Studies. My research experience and written-communication skills have measureable depth because of the years I have invested in constructing essays, articles, and research papers; including my final MA project which was over 40 pages with a 15-page annotated bibliography (over 4500 pages of reading). During the last 3 years as a Pastor, I served in a tutoring capacity as well in our church’s after-school learning center. My role there was to assist children in grades 2-11 with homework, reading, and writing.
Teaching Style
Given the proper environment and method(s), any student can and will learn. My role as a tutor is similar to Michelangelo’s role as a sculptor. When he was commissioned to sculpt the “David” statue, the giant block of marble for this work had been waiting in a cathedral-courtyard for almost 40 years. History records Michelangelo as a sculptor who strove to reveal the magnificent 17 foot masterpiece-image that was waiting to emerge. Through a discovery-friendly environment, I approach each tutoring opportunity knowing that I am helping a student to discover the desire to learn which is already present and waiting to emerge from within. It is my goal to have a positive impact on each of my student’s lives.
