If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

I worked in RCC and CSUSB as a tutor since 2006. Therefore, I'm well versed in the subjects I tutor. Students who focus and concentrate with me will absorb the information and digest the concepts. However, that requires my students to spend time alone for their own educational development. I'm willing to give my students access to my telephone, so they can contact if they any questions. However, calls are not acceptable after 10 pm.

I encourage students to question problem solving methods in order to understand the fundamentals. After an explanation of the material I often follow up with several example problems to help students test their mastery of the subject. I do not emphasize memorizing equations, because students do not learn about the physical phenomena by memorization. I also explain to students study techniques that have worked well for me in the past. I work well with both individuals and small groups.

I have recently graduated from UCLA in June with a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. I have been tutoring my peers and students younger than me throughout my entire high school and college education, mostly in subjects related to math and science. I find working with kids and young adults very fulfilling, and I am looking to tutor more this summer because I would like to use my education to help students younger than me excel in their academics. As an engineering student, I have taken and excelled in several rigorous mathematics courses, including multivariable calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. I am also confident in my teaching abilities for high school math, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past two years I have been substitute teaching in the Romoland School District. I graduated from college seven years ago and after graduating I started the procedure of getting my teaching credential but never completed the process. I did, however, observe two different children in two different classrooms. I, also, worked at In-N-Out Burger for six years during which time I helped different employees learn different aspects of the job. I have three children ranging in ages 5 1/2 through 11 months who I teach every day.
I enjoy teaching children and seeing their faces when something clicks in their head. This year my oldest son has started kindergarten and it has been an amazing experience seeing how much he has learned this past year. I substitute teach two days a week and I really strive to use different ways to teach the children because I know that not every child ... read more

As a current substitute teacher, tutor, credential student, and life long learner, I am extremely interested in the welfare and education of my students. My work history and professional encounters are extremely eclectic. This translates into the fact that I have a solid background within the realm of daily capitalism, business, and private industry, combined with positive experiences while working with non-profit organizations, community groups, volunteers, and migrant workers in various locations throughout the Midwestern United States. In the past I have had the pleasure of assisting children from diverse environments and low income families through Head Start and Migrant Day Care Programs. They ranged in ages from 7 weeks to 12 years old. As a NCLB tutor, I currently help children in grades K-12. As a substitute teacher with various school districts, I am currently preparing myself ... read more

As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level. A level that the person being taught can understand. Having work with kids from different ethnic and educational backgrounds I find this to be very affective and productive. Also, not having been a great student in high school with dyslexia, I have been able to over come these short comings and graduate from collage with honors.
Find out what level the student is at, what their interest are, what the like about learning or hate about learning and go from their. As each person is different and each person learns in their own way. Learning is not hard, finding out how to learn is.

In order to move forward in an academic subject, let’s first see where the student is in their understanding of the subject. Perhaps the student's mind is filled with a patch-work of facts and concepts that, together, simply do not make sense. In such a case, the leap from basic memorization to higher-level thinking such as analysis and problem solving will be difficult. But rather than bore the student with things too basic, let's apply what they already know to the unknown. Like any explorer, it becomes fun & exciting to explore the subject; to use one's imagination and creativity to solve surprising problems; to build confidence and interest. Once things click, I’m happily out of a job!
With my managerial and marketing experience honed with such firms as IBM, McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing), American Express and Atlantic-Richfield, combined with my MBA, I can lead a stud ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I strive to find the best method by which to break down concepts so that they can be understood by each individual or group that I tutor; I do not do this the same way every time because each person and group learns in a different style than others. As one who is invested in a career as a professor and researcher (I am currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student at Loma Linda University in Clinical Psychology), my goal is to positively impact the lives of the students who place their trust in my understanding of what they bring to me and what I can present to them in a manner that reflects a harmonious cohesion.
