My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.

A Little Bit About Me...

About my role as a teacher, I think that the main principle should be “teaching for understanding”. A teacher creates learning opportunities that engage students in thinking about important mathematical concepts. Facts and skills support such learning but are not the ultimate goal. A teacher not only draws on past knowledge of mathematics but continuously builds on and refines that knowledge during meaningful interactions with students and colleagues. Thus, her or his practice as a teacher is constantly evolving

Personality plays a big part in the teaching process. It is important for the teacher to remain positive and encouraging. Each student will be motivated by different things and the teacher must recognize that. In a group atmosphere (classroom) it's important to have structure, an agenda, while at the same time ensuring that each student knows that the teacher's main goal is to help them learn. Participation is a key element. One-on-one sessions require a slightly different approach, it's more about what will it take for that student to achieve the learning objective.

A Little Bit About Me...

Society continues to foster the traditional belief that success in math and science is inherent, only to be grasped by those born with a particular talent level. Educational research by scholars such as Howard Gardner has shown this idea to be false and detrimental to student achievement. As research suggests, I have found through my own teaching that any student can reach a reasonable level of success in math and science with proper guidance, patience and encouragement. I combine belief in a student with the latest constructivist teaching theory and methods I learned in my education master's classes. This skill set allows me to experience what I most enjoy about teaching. I love to see the expression of satisfaction on a student's face when they realize they have firmly grasped a concept that they previously considered too difficult.
