As a person with an inquiring mind, I have spend many years learning how students learn. I taught math at the high school level for five years in Florida, as well as one year in North Carolina. In addition, I have taught students with severe disabilites, and students in all subjects at the elementary level. Always interesting in continuing to learn, I have attended numerous workshops on how students learn. I am a strong believer that a tutor is a friend first, and an instructor second. Many times I have found that a student's difficulties issued from personal matters, such as a lack of confidence, rather than specific weaknesses with the material. I always make every effort to allow a student to feel as comfortable as possible within the instructional dynamic, and in my experience, this has made all the difference.
