Education is essential for the mind to grow.

I have helped people with their English-speaking skills off and on and am very skilled in spelling and grammar. I've been learning Japanese for going on three years, as well. I'm aware that it's not a particularly high in-demand language to learn, but I am more than willing to aid in learning it if it is desired. Also, having graduated high school, I have enough knowledge to teach kids about the basics of science, math, and English.
On the whole, I look for a rather creative approach when it comes to learning and studying. I ask that students be skeptical in all they hear and read, so asking questions as a form of studying will be essential. Just reading a book or looking at flash cards for studying purposes can prove to be tedious and ineffective. And putting what's learned in context is always necessary if the subject calls for any everyday application.

Experienced Educator who wants your child to love learning.

I have been a full-time classroom teacher at all grade levels for the last 12 years. I also have several years as a substitute teacher. I specialize in differentiating instruction for all learners. In addition, I can teach reading and writing skills using authentic sources and classroom subject matter so that students don't fall behind on content-learning at the expense of practice with unrelated materials.
I have a very engaging manner with students. I feel that learning is a joy, rather than a chore and I try to pass that attitude on to my students. I use frequent checks for understanding and reteaching when necessary. I also believe that a student's own insights and questions can guide learning to its highest levels.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent Bachelor of Science in Child Studies graduate of FGCU and hold a current FCCPC. I am considered a non-traditional graduate (which in my case means older), and I bring with me a range of personal and professional experiences that have developed and enhanced my capacity for learning, teaching, and adaptability. My primary interest in learning is focused on the social-emotional and cognitive influences that create the optimal conditions for brain function during the learning process. Providing both the necessary supportive social-emotional environment through positive guidance as well as the cognitive stimulation that physical, sensory, and creative and artistic activities produce are fundamental to implementing a brain-based learning approach, and I am trained to integrate hands-on activities across the curriculum and learning domains that relate to real world experiences. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught for 20+ years in Germany (mainly Math, English and Reading) and for 4 years in Kansas City, MO. There I taught all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Right now I have got several part time jobs: I work as a sub at a colligiate high school (all subjects), I will teach German at the Edison College in Fort Myers (Continuing Education) and I tutor for a private company doing SES tutoring - Reading and Math. I have prepared young people to do their GED, too. The subjects I did there were Math, Science and American History.
I love educating children and adults and strongly believe in lifelong learning. Since I have taught at several levels and even in different countries, I use different teaching techniques. My goal is to help the learner to get the best education possible.

A Little Bit About Me...

I never thought I'd find something I loved more than writing until I had the opportunity to work with young writers. I use constructive and supportive suggestions and questions to guide my students through the writing process, from brainstorming for ideas, clustering and/or outlining, writing the rough draft, rewriting, proofreading, and polishing their final paper. I believe that writing is a skill that can be mastered with practice and encouragement. Every student can be a writer.
Before moving to Florida in 2004, I was the owner/editor of a weekly newspaper in Madison County, Iowa, for 15 years. I also taught in the Writing Lab on the Urban Campus of Des Moines Area Community College for 2-1/2 years. Here in Florida, I've written for several newspapers and magazines including Charlotte Woman, Venice Gulf Coast Living, the Venice Gondolier, and Gasparilla Gazette. I currently tea ... read more

Teach a man to fish...is for life. Tutoring is the same, especially with younger children. I haven't met a student yet who is unable to learn. My job is to find the method that will best enable students to self-actualize their learning. A success is converting the child's approach and passion for learning. If I helped to change the child's mind about learning, I have literally altered the course of his/her life in a positive way.
I have a versatile background that began with two business degrees and progressed to a professional career in purchasing and sales. I discovered along the way that my true passion was teaching and I can be more effective in a tutoring one-on-one situation than a classroom setting. I am highly proficient and have tutored nearly all subjects and grade levels.

I truly enjoy working with others and watching the proverbial "light bulb" go off when a student "gets it." I am very comfortable and confident when working with individuals of all ages. I can contour my teaching styles to benefit adults, young students, and children. One of my primary goals as a tutor is of course to help the student comprehend the subject matter, but also to instill a sense of confidence in him or her. I believe that when a student is confident that he or she can do the work, he or she will do the work! If I can help one student succeed in his or her academic goals, I have succeeded in accomplishing mine.

I would describe my teaching style as very patient, supportive and goal-oriented. I bring various activities to the class, including games and music, and generally let the students do as much work as possible, especially practicing speaking, writing, listening or reading. I learned that Student-Centered teaching is a good method and I try to use it as much as possible. I have a very clear speaking voice and most students find my classes to be fun and inspiring. I am used to being in front of people as a music performer and I find this helps in making the class more interesting and motivates the students to work hard.

I taught public school in Florida from K-12 for the last 16 years. I taught for more than 10 years in the private school. I am still teaching part-time at a private company. My passion for teaching and the diverse subjects and levels of students that I have taught are two of my great assets that can be very useful in the tutoring profession. I teach to help my student reach his or her highest potential.
Depending on the subject I use a highly academic and focussed style of teaching. If it is communication like English, Writing and Journalism , I use a lot of teacher-generated materials. I am very flexible and would like to meet the needs of a particular student by administering some kind of a skill inventory survey to identify his or her style of learning. An inventory of his interests and skills will also be a good tool for me to assess the student's strength ... read more

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of education. I believe that education is the key to our freedom in life. I hope to teach this philosophy to my students. As a teacher, I would describe myself as laid-back and patient. I have found that my patience is what helps me in helping students comprehend the information they are learning. I teach to every learning style and intelligence. I believe all children can learn much more than we expect of them, they just have to be taught the way they learn. Diversity is what makes our world go around, and that is what I teach to my students.
