American Sign Language Mentor/Tutor

I think it is always important to learn what the client wants from the tutoring experience and go from there. For potential interpreters I have developed several linguistic building exercises and other challenging material. For parents of Deaf children I can help lead you to resources as well as language advancements. Deaf culture is a huge part of learning American Sign Language so social events and interaction with Deaf people is something I would include as part of my tutoring. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with students since I was in Middle School myself. I went to college to become a special education teacher and am currently working as a resource specialist. I work with students who have learning disabilities, are at risk, have emotional disturbances, autism, or just need a helping hand. I have also taught in general education classrooms.
I believe every child is capable of matching and exceeding our highest expectations. Every child learns differently and that is my approach. I don't believe in cookie cutter education. I design programs around students interests, needs, and abilities. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. If a student can experience learning first hand, they're bound to acquire enough knowledge to help them succeed.
