My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Currently teaching phonics for Kindergarten and First grade. I am able to teach beginning literacy skills.

I use various teaching styles within my classroom. I try to find how my student learns best and accommodate to their needs. All students learn differently, so I try to be flexible in my teaching style. I do like to make teaching as visual and hands on as I can.
I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. I am currently a Special Education teacher for grades K-5. I teach a caseload of 33 students ranging in abilities. I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners. In addition to working with students that have disabilities, I also have a degree in Elementary Education. I teach regular education students within my intervention groups throughout my school day. I graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan, a private school, with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I've worked in several Child Development Centers and as a nanny with all different ages. I enjoy reading and writing and have experience with editing and grammatical skills as they relate to writing. I have experience teaching six traits writing as well as a Reading Mastery program in my one year teaching 2nd grade at Sutton Public Schools.

A Little Bit About Me...

The thing I enjoy most about teaching is seeing a concept "click" in a child's head. I feel that this is possible with all children if the right strategy is used to teach them. Students learn in lots of different ways. I feel it would be my job as a tutor to find out what would work in each student's academic life. Whether it be a more hands-on approach, or simply reading from a book, I find what helps each child to learn most effectively. This, in turn helps them to progress in their endeavors at school.
